It’s called enshittification for a reason.
What does the “en” prefix accomplish in that word?
“en” as in “into”, probably: Something that was (once) useful and valuable was/is made into something shittier and shittier over time. In contrast to the bare shittification: something not really great getting shittier. Maybe kinda like able vs enable: already able to (being shitty already) vs made able by someone else (i.e. enabled getting shittier by another party for reasons/motive).
