It still takes a considerable amount of fossil fuel to build ebikes and to recharge them. Gaz price spikes will certainly have an impact on pretend-green electricity-powered hardware.

      No it doesn’t??

Yes, how do you think all those materials are extracted, refined, moved around and assembled into “electric devices”? And where do you think the electricity comes from? Even the “greenest” forms of electricity (wind/hydro) when applied on a wide scale require a huge amount of fossil fuels to generate the infrastructure.

          “considerable” compared to what though?

In general e-bikes have a mass of around 30kg and cars have a mass of around 1500kg. So it will use ~1/50th of the raw materials of a car. I would not say that using 1/50th of the raw materials that a car does is “considerable”.

Also the bicycle is the literally the most efficient form of transport (even more than walking).

There is even an argument to be made that an e-bike is more efficient than a pedal power bike because energy is lost when people transform chemical energy (food) to kinetic energy (pedalling).

I don’t think those materials are getting shipped here on electric freighters.

Biodiesel is still more efficient and ‘green’ than any battery powered vehicle.
